At a special public meeting on Dec. 29, the Southwestern Michigan College Board of Trustees voted to appoint Dr. Klint Pleasant of Rochester Hills, Mich., to the position of college President. He is currently the Senior Vice President and special assistant to the President at Rochester Christian University.
Pending contract negotiations, Dr. Pleasant would become SMC’s ninth president. The college’s eighth president, Dr. Joe Odenwald, stepped down in May 2025 to become President of Alma College. Brent Brewer has served as Interim President since then.

He has managed enrollment, athletics, development, as well as having leadership responsibilities in retention, student mentoring and community relations. He has also served as an instructor in the classroom.
Further details including Dr. Pleasant’s background and potential starting date will be forthcoming in the new year.
