Michigan Reconnect Has Expanded To Include Residents 21+

"Maybe someday" just became "definitely today." If you've always wanted to earn a degree and pursue your passions, now is the time. Especially since Michigan Reconnect has expanded its program to include residents 21 and older! With Michigan Reconnect, you can earn your associate degree or skills certificate from SMC with free or reduced tuition.

Michigan Reconnect is a State of Michigan program that awards free community college tuition to those who meet the following criteria:

  • Have lived in Michigan for over one year
  • Will be at least 21 by November 15, 2024
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Have not yet completed a college degree (associate or bachelor's)
  • Are enrolled in an aid-eligible program

To get started, apply for Michigan Reconnect at michigan.gov/reconnect, then apply for admission to SMC.
