Course Description
Minimum grade of C in ENGL 115, ENGL 103W, ENGL 103, or ENGL 104, or satisfactory test score placing into ENGL 103W or higher. Concurrent enrollment in ENGL 115 allowed. A history of Western art from the end of the medieval period to the present. Emphases include the Renaissance, Neoclassicism, Impressionism, Modernism, pop art, and other post-Renaissance movements. Art objects and architecture are discussed within their historical context of creation, technique, aesthetics, style, subject, and purpose in an endeavor to better understand their impact on Western development.
